MIYA SHINMA - WEAVING EMOTION BY NATURE AND ART INTO A FRAGRANT POEM
A journey of emotions unfolds with every scent drop in Miya Shinma's universe. She gives life to the craft of perfumery by translating it into a language that evokes emotions and awakens the soul. Her inspirations include the enigmatic beauty of nature, transient recollections, and delicate, ephemeral moments. Redefining luxury and artistry in the world of scent, Miya Shinma's creations are made from rare ingredients that have been meticulously selected and refined. They shine like one-of-a-kind symphonies filled with the soul of emotion, skillfully fusing the mystery and refinement of Japan with the haute parfumerie savoir-faire of Paris.

Her earliest recollection of fragrance was of the familiar woodsy scent of her childhood home, which conjured feelings of coziness, closeness, and tranquility. The seed of her lifelong love of smell was sown by this subtle aroma. Later, through the works of master perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, Miya Shinma entered the fascinating world of perfumery and learned that it was an art form rather than just a luxury product.
Miya Shinma decides not to apply perfume in her day-to-day activities. She would rather live in a natural and pure environment where she may appreciate the beauty of the moment while maintaining the sensitivity of her senses. She connects with the world naturally by listening to, analyzing, and sensing the layers of aroma that surround her whenever she enters a location.
Japanese cypress - Hinoki is one of her favorite materials. Its scent evokes memories of her native homeland while showcasing opposing qualities, delicate but potent, sensual yet fragile. She also cherishes the oud, which is associated with customary rituals that invoke beautiful yet sacred memories and bring together culture, art, poetry, and spirituality.

Born in Japan and raised between Paris and Tokyo, she has a profound understanding of the essence of both cultures—things that are so familiar that they are invisible, yet that appear bright and sacred from a distance. As literature or calligraphy are to other artists, fragrance is the language of the ego, according to Miya Shinma. Through the prism of remembering, memories and emotions allow her to enter a world of imagination where the beauty of Japanese nature is glorified and elevated. Each scent in this world not only evokes a memory of a time past, but also transforms into a vibrant spiritual artwork, forming a distinctive, lyrical, powerful, and emotional artistic style. Miya Shinma explains that Japan's olfactory identity is a love of nature and purity, including light, delicate, fresh, and uncomplicated scents that are reminiscent of the essence of Japanese cuisine. The choice of rose over jasmine is common among the Japanese, and it indicates the depth, prudence, and complexity of their cultural aesthetics.

What makes Japanese perfume art so distinctive is how it touches daily life. Fragrances have historically been associated with places and clothing in Japan, in contrast to Europe, where perfume is worn on the body. Instead of being applied directly to the skin, incense would infiltrate the folds of a kimono or flavor the space, producing a sensory experience that was both elegant and contemplative. Because of the persistence of this tradition, Japanese fragrance has a very distinct identity from that of the West.
According to Miya Shinma, every scent is a spiritual nourishment as well as a physical adornment. It is a call to enter a place where the East and the West collide, where nostalgia serves as a creative catalyst, and where smell is embraced as a living art. She has debuted four collections during her artistic career: L'Or, Kimono, Heritage, and L'Eau de Miya Shinma.

Magic emerges in life when feeling is born. The heart's amazing rhythm is comparable to gold - L'Or, a bright light that illuminates desires and memories. Akin to an alchemical rite, the L'Or collection delivers an aromatic voyage that awakens golden memories buried deep inside by distilling purity from priceless natural elements.
The Japanese onomatopoeic names of each creation: Kirari, Fuwari, and Hirari, evoke feelings and moods that are indescribable. Every perfume bottle has a different design, with a non-repeating pattern created by a random layer of gold plating on a hot jet black surface. Bottles are presented in sophisticated black lacquer cases 55ml of eau de parfum.

Fragrances are now drawn from exquisite hues and tales hidden within each fold of the kimono which honors Japanese aesthetics with the depth of incense notes like sandalwood, cloves, and agarwood. The Kimono collection is inspired by the traditional practice of burning incense on a kimono.
A jet-black glass bottle holding the essence has a ceremonial label with an authentic kimono design. Each composition comes in a 55ml Eau de Parfum bottle and is presented in a black lacquer box with gold silk paper wrapping. The collection, which was introduced in 2016, consists of four pieces that pay homage to the kimono, a classic representation of Japanese beauty.

"Japanese beauty and traditional culture" is the central topic of Miya Shinma's debut collection, HERITAGE. The collection, which draws inspiration from the always shifting surroundings, is condensed into poetry verses, and each piece evokes a pure and beautiful setting. Every fragrance has a Japanese name that is distinctive in appearance and exquisite in voice. The Eau de Parfum 55ml bottle label is written in a simple yet elegant calligraphy style, and the essence of the fragrance is preserved in an opulent black lacquer box. With ten creations to date since its 1998 launch, HERITAGE laid the groundwork for the Miya Shinma Paris brand, which has been in business since 2000.

Ukiyo-e's delicate lines, brilliant colors, and free-spirited design remain contemporary. L'EAU DE MIYA SHINMA was created with the idea "Enjoy the Present" to express the brightness and freedom of life, inspired by that eternal beauty. The collection's products use natural, transparent, and pleasant materials to reproduce the sense of peace that Ukiyo-e evokes.
The bottle design is basic and transparent, with a traditional Japanese calligraphy label. The goods is presented in a pure white paper box, wonderfully made in origami style. Launched in 2017, the series now includes ten scents, each named after a historic Japanese hue.

Miya Shinma’s collections are available at Parfumélite. Come and discover them at 63 Tú Xương and experience the essence of Japan through the artistry of a perfumer whose creations are as soulful as they are refined.
